Northern Health is seeking locum physicians to work in the Stuart Lake General Hospital Emergency Department in Fort St. James, British Columbia.

ER shifts can be 24 hours (0800-0800) or 12 hours (2000-0800). Day shift averages 14 patients per day and night averages approximately 2-3.

Income Guarantee: $4484.00/24 hr. shift (weekday) or $4791.00/24 hr. shift (weekend) – includes FFS, MOCAP, RRP, and REEF.

Locum travel and accommodation will be covered. Travel stipend: $250.00-$1500.00 based on time.

The Stuart Lake Hospital is a 12-bed facility (6 acute care and 6 long-term). Services provided at the hospital include Emergency Care, Acute Care, Complex Care, Laboratory, X-ray, and Primary Care.

Fort St. James is the gateway to a chain of rivers and lakes that traverse 400 kilometers of central British Columbia. The population of the Fort St. James area, including the municipality itself, rural areas and First Nations, is approximately 4,500 people. There is an established forest industry, a growing mining sector, and a growing tourism industry.

Year round outdoor and indoor recreational opportunities include hiking and biking trails, soccer and ball parks, golf, fishing, hunting, water-skiing, canoeing, swimming, sailing and boating, alpine and Nordic skiing, skating, hockey, curling, snowmobiling, dog sledding and camping. Cultural opportunities include a Public Library, the Community Arts Council, an amateur theatre company and a movie theatre.

An interesting fact about Fort St. James — the town has been restored as a National Historic Site.
