Smithers FP – Emergency Locum Opportunity

Northern Health is seeking locum physicians to work in the Bulkley Valley District Hospital Emergency Department in Smithers, British Columbia.

Day shifts are 0800-1800 and nights are 1800-0800. Day shift averages 25 patients and night averages 12 patients.

Income Guarantee: $3153.00/shift (weekday) or $3453.00/shift (weekend). Nights (assumed full hrs onsite): $4942.00/shift (weekday or weekend) – includes FFS, MOCAP, RRP, and REEF.

Locum travel and accommodation will be covered. Travel stipend: $250.00-$1500.00 based on time.

Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 24-bed acute care facility providing emergency/outpatient, medical, surgical, maternity and palliative care services, and has one psychiatric observation unit. The facility has approximately 13,600 emergency visits and supports home and community care services, a strong community cancer clinic, and a diverse visiting specialist/surgeon program. It also offers laboratory and radiology (x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, CT scanning), and pediatrics services.

Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town’s Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture.

The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional population of approximately of 18,000 in the service area from the surrounding communities that access services.
